Man... Johny was out boxed by journeyman blown up welterweight..:-( I dont like to say this but there is no where to go for johny anymore.. It is all over..

What happened, Johny weight drained or has Johny actually been in too many wars against Campas, Eastman, Smidget etc. I mean Johny has eaten so much hard shots for such young fighter or wasnt Johny that good at beginning..:think

This guy was never that good. He was bound to lose against an average fighter sooner or later. Was it a good fight?

he was never the top 5 middleweight in the world people made him out to be, but i always thought john would mix comfortably amongst 5-15 in the world, maybe pick up a random strap, have some great sell out domestic fights against lee and macklin maybe retire as euro champ or something. he was never in the class of pavlik sturm or abraham but god damn i thought he would have beaten this guy. if he had of been knocked out with a shot fair enough, but to limp over the line with no ideas against a journyman. ouch

I can only add my own personal dismay at the Duddy result and performance it seems, and at 29 it could be very difficult to regroup. An option would be to come home and link up with Brian Peters.Brian has worked wonders for Dunne after his sole loss, and John would still be a big ticket seller in Belfast. It's decision time for John, and I hope he chooses carefully.

Six of my us are heading down to the Ulster Hall to cheer on young Martin Lindsay against Paul Appleby for the British featherweight title. It's a real 50/50 fight and heavens behold the trade paper Boxing News have tipped Lindsay for victory[ don't know if that's a good omen, as they normally tip against our boys only to be proved wrong].I had a terrible gut retching feeling today when I seen the Duddy result, that Lindsay and Froch[ I know he's a brit but...:D] could suffer similar setbacks. Now that would be a nightmare.

Just found out about the Duddy loss:yikes
I am absolutely shocked at this loss, haven't seen the fight but i can only presume Duddy seriously underperformed. I thought he was making great strides with Pat burns and really this defeat has left me perplexed.
The knifes are out already and as far as many people are concerned Duddy is now finished. I'll try and track down the fight and have a good look at what went wrong for Duddy but think it's a little early to be writing him off. A title challenge against Pavlik looks to be gone but lets see how John reacts to this defeat and if he can come back stronger before totally giving up on him.

Looking at the you tube videos,if you didnt no the fighters you'd swear that duddy was the one who had lost 7 fights and that lyell was undefeated.Duddy had no defense at all he just seemed to let lyell hit him whenever he wanted and he didnt seem to be able to jab at all,the worst thing of it all is at the end Duddy has hands in the air as if he won right up until the scores are announced,he should of been ashamed of himself with his performance if he had any aspirations to be a champion.
He must of underestimated Lyell completely, maybe his advisors should of been getting him harder fights that he would not be clear cut favourite to win and to keep him focused, like the Ronald hearns fight that was rumoured last xmas before his dispute with irish ropes instead of the likes of lyell.
I no it would be a big risk on his advisors part, but maybe he should fight manfredo next(if the fight is still available),if he wins it would regain some creditbility for him,if he loses it cant do much more damage than this loss has already done.

If he had fought Pavlik with the defensive skills of last night, you know what would have happened. I rate Vanda much higher than Lyell. The thing is Duddy never beat a good fighter, not in their prime anyway.

Hope this doesn't sound dumb, but I wonder if he ever had the right trainor, and was brought along right. He's had 4, and I thought Burns would be good for him. I don't know. livin the good life in Miami was probably not a good idea. after Campas, too many easy bouts? Lowe seems like a real old school type trainor. I dunno, maybe John never really had enough talent. It's just that when he looked good, he looked really good! (my 2 cents worth).

    I know what you mean

When he put his punches together, at times he looked sensational, and then when his denfensive flaws showed up he looked absolute shite. All said the party might not be over yet:deal
