This is a bit mad the people of Ennis are celebrating that one of their decendants is a ******.
Ali already said in his famous interview before Blue Lewis that his grandma worked in the planations and was raped repeatedly by the plantation owner aka the clare dude.

That was before he found out the full story, thats just what he used to believe. He found out later that the guy married her. Why would he come to Ennis if he still believed she was raped?

Someone had told me this before, that Ali had even said himself that he was mistaken, and this seems to back it up.

Irish immigrants weren't exactly high society either in those days, makes sense to me that nobody would give a **** who they'd marry.

And it was his great-grandfather that was from Ireland.

Did anyone watch the charity boxing event on Saturday night on RTE? As commendable as the programme was, a few question were answered as to why Brian Peters has been seemingly quiet[on the professional boxing front ] of late. While a lot of our fighters were twidleing their thumbs waiting for a fight, Peters and Barry McGuigan were producing this programme. So one must ask the question, how serious is Peters about the sport of boxing? Why has he stalled the careers of several promising prospects, to indulge himself in this celebrity boxing. Could you imagine Frank Warren ignoring his boxers to participate in a similar venture, I don't think he would.I must stress I thought the programme was excellent, and I hope all the charities prosper from this event, but there was no reason why Peters could not have promoted a show during the summer and this is clearly the reason why he didn't.

I saw it. And was pissed off at peters. He only seems to be interested in the big time now. No more shows every month. I loved the mccloskey show in letterkenny. Can't see that happening again though.
