Aye well thats it. Boxing (and sport in general) is all about opinions. We'll agree to disagree

For me there is a difference between educated pressure and scrapping/brawling/whatever you want to call it. Educated pressure against Cordoba would have been fine but I think he got caught up in brawling too much. Lets not forget he was within a whisker of losing that fight TKO5. A couple of clean shots for Cordoba after the 2nd knockdown, or a weaker/worse referee not paying attention to the fact that Dunne was blocking most of Cordobas flurries and that fight would have been over. So, while it was a magnificent comeback win, he was treading a fine line in that one.

In reference to the Poonsawat fight, I agree with you about being glad that it ended early. As a fan the last thing I want to see is Bernard getting battered around the ring for 12 rounds.

Being coldly critical, though, I have to say he did stand and trade way too early. Nothing wrong with getting on your bike for 6 rounds. So what if you don't make a dent. Maybe Poonsawat gets tired, maybe hes struggled with the weight and gasses in the 2nd half of the fight, maybe he breaks his hand with a shot landing on the hip and is half lame for a large part of the fight. I'm not saying any of those things are likely but you've got to stay in the fight long enough to see what develops.

Yes Poonsawat was way too strong and yes I agree the KO was inevitable and yes I'm glad the end came early. However, from a purely critical/analytical level, Dunne gave it up too easily. He didn't have to stand and trade in round 3. He wasn't cornered and he wasn't gassed so he could have continued to get on his bike and see if anything materialised for him.

Anyway, cheers for reading lads. I do think the route back to world level I outlined is feasible. I can see most of the stuff I mentioned (or close enough to it) happening.

I just wonder if he can make weight properly because FW looks a much tougher prospect than SBW from where I am sitting.

but i think he has the beaten of the 10 ten anyway id love to see Pajo fight either Choi, Martin Lindsay or John Simpson next then have a shot at the EBU title...

 

I think he's come in around 15 or 16 in the ratings at the minute. A good win over another EBU ranked fighter should send him flying up the rankings

 

he hasnt anything to fight for against lindsay or simpson but i think a fight with choi is very possible.

 

Fair enough, I have to say the plan you outlined for him as a way back is spot on. If he can comfortably make superbantam that is exactly the route he should take.

a touch obvious there paddy no? decent fight for lee, though not vital as i think hes clearly a level above brian vera and mcewan showed he could be pretty handily outboxed so he doesnt really do much for lee to kick on so to speak but i suppose your right lee needs to put the record straight.
