I hope you are right. Kelly Pavlik is my 'home town' boy. I was looking to Duddy and Lee to bring some respect to the division. I'm getting tired of certain 168 division 'elitists' saying he is pretty much a bum in a weak division.

The frustrating thing is Duddy proved he could box but waited too long. Lee proved he could box and didn't stick with it. (I'm having serious doubts about Steward as a trainer for Lee). I think Duddy wanted to impress Pavlik's people ring side and let that get him outside his game. That is easier to correct than what I see as Lee's problem. Steward.

I was actually thinking that myself tonight. I have said this before, but Darren Sutherland could be an Irish Nigel Benn. I can't wait til he turns pro, also.

We all know Pavlik is a brilliant champion, no matter what anyone else says. My problem is I want to support Pavlik, the way I did Hagler, BUT there is three Irish middles who want to disect Pavlik, and blood is thicker than water, so good luck to Pavlik, until he faces an Irish fighter.

Pavlic is the real deal obviously, It's just that I find his fans insufferable. maybe that's just me, but I doubt it.

On boxrec forum, someone said that there is a re-match schedualed for Lee/Vera, in July. Pugatious promotions.

Can someone describe the Macklin fight a bit, please. Did he land any big shots or wobble Campas at all?

Yeah, I remembered the rte link, but I use a friends p.c. for videos and well, missed it. But I did just read a good account of it on the`"seconds out" site. Except that they refered to him about three times as the "Englishman":| Good for Matthew for salvaging an otherwise bad weekend.

Hello mike, as I put out the chocolate eggs from the "Easter bunny" for my kids, I can't help thinking the weekend boxing was not a complete loss for Irish boxing. In actual fact things ended on a positive note with an excellent Macklin win, and also the great news that Lee's camp are looking an instant return with Vera.:good

Hello Ardy, how are you buddy? Lee is a good fighter and one loss does not affect that. I feel that Duddy has a big edge in strength but Lee might be the more skilled fighter of the two. Of course, Duddy also still enjoys an unblemished record which is a big marketing tool nowadays. This loss is not a catastophe if Lee and Steward correct some errors and come back stronger. Remember, Joe Louis ws whipped by Max Schmelling in 1936 and came back a couple of years later and obliterated the German in a rematch. If Lee had punched in combination instead of just landing just one shot at a time Vera wouldhae been resting peacefully on the canvas by the third round. Lee also was landing his own counterpunch when the ref halted the fight. In retrospect, it is good as Lee is a young fighter and a vicious beating could have shaken his confidence and adversely affected his chance to rally back from this. He has the personality and temperment to rally back for sure. Irish-american champions from yesteryear like Dempsey (part cherokee indian) and Harry Greb (1/2 German) and Mickey Walker were savages (and I mean that in a good way) that did not give a damn about one loss or that they took a few beatings on the way up. Lee showed balls of steel in that fight and he'll be back rest assured.

It's nice to hear from you Sardu, I hope your right, and I hope Lee can regroup from this defeat.Lee's camp have got a rematch arranged, and now it's up to Andy to put Vera in his place.
