Having seen Duddy v Smichet, Andy Lee's last 3 bouts, and Macklin v Campas.
None of these deserve to be champions. Duddy has little to no skill, slightly better than a punch bag. Andy Lee does not know how to fight in close or tie up and opponent, Macklin is just plain ordinary. It will have to be a very poor middleweight division for any of these to become champions !!!

I was multi tasking - watching the Macklin fight and in between the rounds catching up with the Rees fight - at the same time getting grief from my missus to help her fold sheets for our B & B. From what I could gather Rees was doing fairly well in the earlier rounds but Kotelnik came strong in the second half of the fight. Rumour has it that a Hatton/Kotelnik fight may be down the line.

Duddy was at his worst with Smitchet and he still survived it to win. Duddy is better then you saw in that fight. Don't be too hasty to judge him, when he learns to lead with his left jab and not his head he could be a worry to some. He has learnt the hard way and proved he is a tough lad.

Rees was well beat, I don't know what fight Woodhall was watching, his scoring was dismally biased.

Jeez Louise, a post like this will drive an Irishman to drink . . . actually virtually anything will drive an Irishman to drink. :cheers

But the post is spot on, though I still like the unheralded James Moore.

KP is of Slovakian and Italian descent. Many people of Czech, Slovak, Slovainian, Hungarian descent, etc. settled in Ohio and western PA when they emigrated here a century ago. Kelly's dad is of Slovakian descent and his mother is Sicilian from what I've read.

I know this Irish Boxing so congratulations to Macklin for his soilid showing against Campas. Also, the Casamayor-Katsidis fight was sensational last night. Although I was disappoined Katsidis lost he put on an incredibly brave showing and he will come back stronger IMO. This kid has incredible heart.

Yes Ardy, a few more fights to level his irish fight instincts and use his head for tinkin' we could have have our middleweight champ. Duddy impresses me somehow and he has learnt as he's gone along, he's shown steady progress and now needs control more than ever as he fights up in level. Overall, I think he is the leading Irish middleweight. I was never impressed with Lee's inability to shorten his punches and fight at shorter range. He is not a complete fighter because of it and his limitations have been exposed. With what Duddy can already do, a few weeks with Manny type coaching could bring the championship best out in him. Hmm, the mind boggles! :think
