After a brutal fight like the one Saturday, many fighters are never the same. So will Cotto come back stronger than ever?? Or a shell of his former self??
I think Margarito has finished him. If he does come back it may well be better. Cotto was destroyed mentally, broken.
But it's the manner of that loss that was telling. He was beaten up and mentally broken. He took a knee after having taken a count without having taken an additional punch. He went to his knees in front of a man he feared, in the ring. It takes a very special man to come back from something like that. If he can do it, I belive he can beat Margarito.
We are about to find out if he'll be the same fighter. The ability to come back after a big loss . . . is what's separating great fighters from good fighters. I honestly think . . . he'll be back with more vengeance and maybe wiser.
Its time now to sing this song... Cotto is shot, he's a bum, he has no heart, he should retire etc. etc. etc. Those are the usual posts about a boxer who loses big. see -Roy Jones (after Tarver) -Evander Holyfield (before Tyson) -Wladimir Klitchko (after Brewster) -Oscar De La Hoya (after Hopkins) that is until they win their next fight
for the record margarito got hit much more then cotto did ... there are tons of fights where the winner was never the same agian ...
It depends on Cotto's mental strength. If he's insecure or a flakey character then he's ****ed. Can't see it though. He seems like a guy with a strong will. He's too skillful just to rot away.
