Lets tell this straight, Calzaghe is "ring" champion at LHW. Dawson is titleholder
who beat a few (current/former) top dogs over there in Adamek, Tarver, Johnson.
If Dawson is not proven enough to fight mighty Calzaghe (who beat ancient Hopkins
and even more shot Jones) .... then who else is?

The guys who are definitely not proven enough is Diaconu or Cloud.
The guys who were definitely proven wrong recently but are just OK are Johnson, Woods, Tarver.
The only one beside Dawson who may be worth of consideration (not money but sport vise)
is ..... Erdei but this will never happen.

I thought to be proven you had to fight the best in your division and win world titles?

So what more does Dawson have to do?

Was Lacy proven when he fought Calzaghe?

    Dumb thread.

Dawson would be Calzaghe's most difficult opponent to date, bar none.

    lacy had notoriety.

dawson's made a name for himself but if calzaghe is going to diss pavlik and say "he's not in my league" so he can fight roy jones what does that tell you about his mindset?

Pavlik wasn't in his league ,proven after Old man Hopkins gave him a whoopin'.Roy couldn't keep it up after three rounds true but he was more deserving than Pavlik on that performance.
Basically Hopkins is Joe's caretaker, taking care of his rubbish

    hindsite is 20/20.

doesnt change the fact that Joe constantly claims that guys who the public want to see him fight are not worthy only to go on and actually take on unworthy challengers.

    Pavlik is/was the middleweight champ.

Dawson is a 2 belt champ in the weight class Joe is supposed to be Champ in.

What did Manfredo accomplish that made him worthy. He lost on the Contender, was brought back only to go and lose in the final.Joe faced the runner up in a guy who was on a reality show.He didnt even ****ing take the winner but took the guy who had already lost twice on that show.

Not really true, they are on similar level, both unbeaten, both titleholders,
both in prime, both considered as #1 or 2 in the division beside Calzaghe.

Yeah, but Dawson has beaten better comp and Kessler is no longer unbeaten. Also, they are not on the same level. Dawson is certainly a better fighter than Kessler.

I personally think that he should fight Hopkins to see how good he is. I have a feeling that he could just be another Pavlik.

Really? What contenders? Beyer, Mundine, Siaca, Andrade? Last time I checked, Tarver and Johnson were both top 5 LHWs. Adamek was top 5 when Dawson beat him(he's currently the recognized CW champ). Harding was top 10. I'll take that group over Kessler's scalps any day.

Dawson is a better fighter than Pavlik. That being said, Pavlik is still a good fighter and Dawson might not get past Hopkins if they fight. However, Hopkins doesn't seem interested in fighting Dawson at the moment. Dawson would jump at that fight.

    thats a very ignorant post.

let hopkins fight pavlik at middle and see if the same thing happens.

some fighters change completely when they add on a few pounds and go up a weight.

and you want to slate pavlik, after he beat taylor twice who beat hopkins twice, because he took a chance and moved up to fight hopkins when he didn't have to.
