Is Roy Jones back?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by LordSharpshire, Aug 19, 2009.

  1. I mean, Calzaghe is retired so he doesn't have to worry about losing to him again. So, can RJJ pick up a belt from say, Zsolt Erdei? What about WBA champ Gabriel Campilo (who the **** is that??). Or, what about fighting the winner of Woods-Cloud? If Woods wins, Jones can rematch him. lol

I think it is very feasible that Jones can pick up another major belt considering how lackluster the div. is overall.

    What say you?

Jones can beat Woods, Cloud, Erdei and Campillo. He could also give Dawson a good fight.

  5. That is an unacceptable answer.

the only boxer that stand in Jones's way is Sergio "The Latin Snake" Mora

  7. I pretty much agree with this. Erdei will never fight him because, well, he's a *****. If Cloud were to beat Woods, there's no doubt in my mind that Roy would school Cloud much like he just schooled Lacy. Cloud is as green as they come. A fight against Dawson though, well, Roy would be gunshy and would probably look rather bad against Chad. I don't think Roy would fight Chad unless it was for some serious money.

  8. How so?

Jones looked great the other night. I wouldnt say hes back like he was in the 90's but he's damn sure more affective now that he has had the proper time to adjust back to the 170 pound range. I say Jones can beat all Light Heavy's except Dawson.

I think Roy can win any of those titles, but I'd most want to see him fight Dawson, or move up in weight and unify the weak cruiserweight division and if Hopkins beats Ademek or whatever his name is, they can have a rematch. I also would like to see Jones and Toney have a rematch at heavyweight just so both can retire.

I think Jones should win one more title, then just fight legends such as himself, like Hopkins, Toney, or whomever. I don't think he should fight another heavyweight unless its James Toney or Eddie Chambers.

A highly skilled, tall boxer who has relatively little power and a turtle-shell style that's not too exciting, but pretty hard to beat or land clean on. Would be a hard fight for Jones at this point, but obviously easier than Dawson.

I think you're overrating Dawson. He really hasn't impressed in awhile and I felt he lost to Johnson by a point. Roy fights very smartly off the ropes as compared to his fight with Super Joe where he was in a shell. He hasn't employed that shell defense and has fought more in the middle of the ring. Plus Chad has never dealt with somebody who has more handspeed than him.
