For Gerald Mclellan's sad injury. I just watched the fight again with him and Nigel Benn and clearly had him out of there in the first round and the ref was obviously cheating for Benn. It was faught in England and the ref was giving Benn excessive breaks to recover clearly stalling for Benn to recover. Would Mclellan reign king if the ref would not have cheated....I say yes. Prime example why not to fight in another country.

Dont fighters get more time if they go through the ropes like that?! Personally I dont think the ref was to blame

I think its 15 seconds unassisted, not sure if its the same in every venue.

you get 20 seconds to recover if you've been knocked out of the ring.

Everytime I fought in an amateur match the ref would go over the rules with us, they always told me if for some reason you get knocked out the ring you have 15 seconds to get on your feet and into the ring. I guess its different in the pros.

Im talking about after Benn got back into the ring the ref kept stepping in and giving Benn more time to recover.

No, just against going to another country to fight for prime examples like this and Calzaghe vs Manfredo and the list goes on....

    Keep it in the states

I dont think Gerald would have gotten him, actually. Wish he had, though.
