ITV viewing figures

there is a real possibility of Macklin, Munroe, Rhodes, Mitchell, Burns, Cleverly fighting for world titles next year. I cannot see Sky putting them on PPV, its more likley we would see them as part of a PPV card involving Haye/Khan and even Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

When was the last world title fight involving a british fighter on normal sky sports. I think it was Junior Witter vs DeMarcus Corley??

BTW there is more chance of Matthew Hatton beating Floyd Mayweather than Munroe vs Toshiaki Nishioka being in the UK. Wolrd title fights involving Japanese fighter sell out 30,000 seater arenas and get 40million viewers, Maloney hasnt got a hope in hell of winning the purse bids.

 

i hope espn do get ome boxing on like setanta did there were some cracking fights on setanta (that wernt avalible elswere) or that would have been ppv on sky

 

Smaller promoters put on fights through Matchroom but I cant see it working with Hennesey.

Matchroom dont have any fighters signed to contracts. They just buy the pursebids for fights no one else wants on the cheap, and then put them on sky for cheap. thats what they specalise in.

All there sports are cheap programmeing to fill up TV.

 

don't know where you got it from and how true it is but if true then those are great numbers for what was a pathetic card.

boxing on itv is definitely over for now btw its official like a referee with a whistle.

 

Murray will leave Mick and go with Hatton, i think Mick is just about done.

 

I think Sky will take Hennessy. Fury, Barker and Murray on Friday Nights will get them interested

 

where would they put them. if they wanted him they would of shown the Froch fight.

 

Rob I cant see Sky putting there world title fights on PPV. Next year you could well see 3 Haye fights , Khan if he wins his fight Saturday could also have 3 fights as well add to that Hattons comeback will be PPV as well if that goes well we could see Hatton again at the end of the year so just from them alone there is 8 PPVs more than ever before on a SBO. I cant see them trying a dual PPVs on top of that to try and sell the other fights with a US card these other fighters are not to PPV standard and Sky dont seem too interested in getting the shows that Setanta had for the US boxing yes they will get the super fights with Pacman and Money but the others no chance.

 

I'm not saying they'll take Froch (at least unless it is on their terms- Friday nights etc.) but I think they'll take a John Murray-Mezaache/ Fury-McDermott type of fight on a Friday over say a Lee Haskins fight or the Sosnowksi fight coming up. I think they'll want Tyson Fury because there is potential to develop a PPV draw and down the line he has so many potential British opponents

 

One way or other Murray and Fury will be on Sky in the new year.

Not sure how it will work but Sky have the whip hand with promoters and if there's a fight to be made, as someone said earlier about the Moore v Rhodes fight then major promoters are going to dance to Sky's tune and stick their fighters in against each other.

By the way, didn't ITV boxing used to be sponsored by Hyundai or someone like that, don't think they have been for a while which shows the impact of decreasing marketing budgets/advertising revenue. Sky still sponsored by poker and subscription channel - plus adverts too.

 

I cant see them doing it on there own either but I could see Macklin vs Sylvester for the IBF being on the undercard of Rickys comeback, or Kevin Mitchell vs Katsidis being the main event of a UK leg to Khans US debut.

We nees to remember sky had a deal with Hennesey. They were going to have Froch vs Pascal as the UK leg of the Hatton vs Mallagnaggi PPV. But hennesey left them for ITV.

Also can you blame ITV for dropping hennesey, he has put on **** cards, **** main events and the main reason they signed him was for Froch world title fights, but when carl has a fight he asks for more money. Surley Froch vs Taylor and Dirrell should habe been part of the deal.

 

Rob that would take a lot of planing to have a double header for World title fights on both the US and UK on the same night and it is very seldom that it works out for all of the people involved to get everything sorted for these to work. Fair enough with the Hennesey **** I cant see him getting any sort of tv deal and he will work with Froch alone. The rest will end up going to other promoters on Sky. Its only a matter of time before John Murray teams up with Hatton promotions so thats Hennesey's next best fighter who is a fight away from World title fight if he was with a decent promoter.

 

There is no room for Mick on Sky at the moment. Warren, Maloney, Hearn and Hatton have signed up for a set number of Friday nights until at least the end of the summer. Barker and Daws being title fights would go to purse bids. Dont have to be on Mick shows. They can stay with him and see if he gets tv dates down the line.

They each have a minimum number of dates to fill, And the fights need to be aproved by Sky. Beyond that they fight for whats left.
