one year has passed since theyre last fight and they still dont have any fight lined up.i know they deserved some rest but this is too much and boxing and the fans need these guys back. whats going on with these two warriors?
izzy had to have surgery on a detached retina. Idk about rafa tho. I wouldnt criticize them though, the amount of punishment they took especially considering how much izzy took in his previous fights could make him retire.
I'd only like to see them fight eachother nobody else. They aren't going to be the same and will lose fights that many people think the should be winning. Izzy is still recovering from surgery and Marquez couldn't get a fight not too long ago for whatever reason, is was posted on here not too long ago.
They can have as big a break as they want after those 3 epic back-to-back fights. And the thing is, they might end up doing it all over again in a 4th fight.
Izzy is struggling to recover from his last surgery and Marquez has been getting dizzy during training so it doesn't sound good. Both fighters are planning to take a long break but they're war torn fighters at this point and their time as the top dogs are over im afraid.
Damn thats bad news if thats really true i would probably rather they retire than seeing them get hurt in the future.
Hopefully they won't fight each other again, ever. The perfect trilogy, the perfect ending (last second knockdown in a very close fight), and the damage they did to each other should be enough. You can replay each fight 100 times and still not get bored. No reason to risk their health for our entertainment, as they just can't stop hitting each other. Izzy is recovering from his injury and will probably fight a few tune-ups, probably moving up to FW. I think a tune-up coming up for Rafa as well, and I think he'll stay at 122. At one point, Marquez-Jhonny Gonzalez would be absolutely awesome. But there's no guarantee they will be ever the same again. This is a cruel sport, in a HOF, ATG effort you seriously damage your body and brain, and that's very sad.
I talked to Vasquez in the last Solo Boxeo in Alameda. He said he is now in his 30's and wants to fight whoever brings more money. I cant blame him for that. He already proved that he doesnt duck anyone. He deserves a big pay day. I think he said that the most he has ever made in a fight is no more than 450K, and i think that was the third fight with Marquez. If Marquez brings him the most money, then thats who he will fight next.
