We assume that he is champion.

How do the media and public take him?

I think at his age we would feel very proud of him.

    He'd be universally loved.

    Certainly a possible scenario.

He was charming, carismatic and fan friendly. He would also have been astute enough to do the charity, celebrity and chat show thing.

His misdemeanours might have largley slipped under the radar.

Also, boxing would be huge in America again.

Do you think that the fight fans of his era might agree to swap him for Chris Areola?

Althought he would behave like Mayweather in private, he would be a lot more reasonable in terms of what he said in public.

Faced with a public who liked him he would respond positivley.

To make the same impact he would have to be openly gay.

There is absolutely nothing Jack Johnson could do to make the same impact as far as controversy goes. Can you really see anything outraging even the most conservative groups of people here in the states enough to the point of rioting? We're living in the era of 2 girls 1 cup.

Maybe if Johnson teabagged his KO'd victims, he would approach a fraction of the controversy he had back in his day.

Wouldnt be half as bad as Arreola kissing an opponent if he and Johnson did swap places.

Probably a lot more tolerantly than they did then.

How would the public take to Jim Jeffries if ,having beaten Wlad for the title he announced, "I will only defend against white challengers, when there are no more of them to fight I shall retire, I will not risk my title against a black challenger" ?:think
