Prime for prime I think plays right into Toney's hands. Bernard gets countered all night long.

 

naw..the only way you beat hopkins is to outwork him..and toney wont do that

 

I disagree. In his prime, Bernard was more reckless and aggressive than he is today and Toney was, well, James Toney. Prime for prime, I see Hopkins being the come forward fighter and Toney doing the more effective work via the counter. I also see a lot of headbutting due to styles.

I'm thinking more along the lines of between the Glen Johnson-Antwan Echols fights. Physically prime anyways and still a master craftsman, although maybe not quite as crafty as he got later. That's the tough thing about pinning down Hops' prime, as his physical prime didn't coincide with his prime as a ring technician.
