Camacho, Rosario, Ramirez and Taylor. I'll go to my grave saying the stoppage decision was correct in the Taylor fight. All in all, a fairly strong top four. The win over Camacho and the performance against Rosario are the two jewels in the crown IMO.
The only "calls" that Steele had to make was a) whether the bell had rung for the end of the round and b) whether Taylor was fit to continue.
This is the argument I can make for it, the crowd eruption was deafening when JCC flattened Taylor. If the ref didn't hear the 10 second mark, he could have thought there was 30 seconds left in the ground. 30 seconds left JCC kills Taylor. As I said this is about my earliest boxing memory and ive seen it a million times since. I personally think the stoppage was justified, but we'll never have an agreement on it either way.
No. He knew there was less than 10 seconds to go (flashing red lights). You can argue that because he could not tell exactly how much time was left his decision was influenced twards stoping the fight. In the end Steele hadto make a judgment call. Do I think he madethe right decision? No. Was Taylor robbed? No.
His decision was mostly influenced by the fact that Taylor couldn't or wouldn't take two steps towards him and Taylor couldn't focus his eyes on him.
