firstly, i wasnt aware mike had moved to sydney.....

and if you re-read my post, it was a question, not a statement, that jeff way have upset the muslim community. and as anyne who follows aussie boxing and its infighting etc would know, fenech got glassed or stabbed or something by 'supporters' of mundine.

as the perps were of 'arab' appearence, and supposedly supporters of mundine, i doubt they were christians. its also not to say that anthony had anything to do with it, nor had the support of all sydneys muslims.

however, jeff fell foul of most of the muslims he trained, so perhaps one may presume he is on the outer with a large section of sydneys young muslim community?

im simply asking questions. perhaps someone can enlighten us as to how jeff gets on with his former boxers, and why he has gone so quiet in the media, promotions, and as a trainer.?

 

I'm also curious.....anyone?

Shame Jeff ain't training anymore. There's was good things being said when he started.

 

He was up there with Joel Judah as a great trainer and motivator.

 

Fenech was a good motivator for certain Aussie boxers in some fights.
I remember Fenech doing great with Geale for example in this motivational role.

As a trainer i would pass on using Fenech.

 

i recon it was fenechs uncontrolled dislike of mundine that brought him undone. as to why he seemed to dislike mundine so much is a mystery.

*it may have been jelousy, as mundine had success in the NRL, success that fenech had aspired to, but had failed at.

*it could of been an old boxer being jelous of the adulation in the public for a 'new' champion?

*it could have been because fench didnt like mundines..uhm...self promotion.

*it could have been that fenech knew in his heart that had he been at his peak, and a welter, he could have nailed mundine at any weight.

whatever the reason, fenech went way over the top to try and unseat mundine. the same way he tried to de-rail lovemore ndou using jus.tin rowsell.

fenech had an argument with ndou, and risked rowsells future shot at a world title, just to try and beat former charge, ndou. it was a fight jus.tin didnt need. his next fight was probably for a world title. he had absolutely no reason to fight lovemore, whom was and is, always dangerous. anyway, it backfired, and rowsell was ko'd, and lost his unbeaten record, and his best shot at the bigtime.

fenech displayed the same bad management of his fighters in dealing with his jelousy of mundine. he kept throwing his fighters at mundine, and mundine kept beating them, but jeff kept throwing away the records they built, just to try and sate his own desires.

with jeff, the fighter never came first. not in the long run. it was always, in the end, all about jeff. it ended up becoming his undoing as a trainer. but it may have been his strength as a boxer. either way, jeff failed to change himself into a great trainer, because of a personality flaw that he wouldnt or couldnt fix, and become the trainer which he was more than qualified to become.

he may learn, and become a great trainer. there is time. but jeff must learn he comes a long second, to the good of his fighters.

as far as i know... i think Jeff is waiting for a real fighter, i mean he is looking for him self in some one els. some how some way, jeff still waiting i am sure one day jeff will walk in to the ring agian side by side with a champion fights hard as he dose and hit the target like jeff in his prime.
