No! Granted he was a complete hype job but he was a better fighter pre Calzaghe beat down.

No, injuries added the final nails to his coffin, but he was never particularly good, he is just worse now.

Good fighter, beat some solid comp. The calzaghe fight ruined him, hes been gunshy since then. It's not that he was never that good, he just never fufilled his potential, and all the **** talking he did before the cal fight made him look pretty stupid.... That being said, i think the shoulder surgeries took a toll on him. He should retire:!:

No. It wasn't the Calzaghe beating either. It was the full thickness tear in his rotator cuff during the second round of the fight AFTER Calzaghe. Lacy came out looking GREAT in those first 2 rounds after.

That's what sucks about the situation. Lacy will always be considered as this huge overrated fighter... but the guy was a damn beast before his shoulder injury.

    yah..

agree he had potential, though calzaghe took his soul that night...

people overlook the fact that the former olympian was the betting favourite, was coming off a devastating KO streak and calzaghe was supposed to be in decline, lacy sparred for months beforehand with winky wright for the fight too...

Fair enough!! The Calzaghe beating was so complete, so thorough, such a total dismantling, that no boxer who had the pre fight hype of Lacy could ever really come back. Afterwards he was always going to be the boxer who Calzaghe destroyed. I would say though that he showed enormous courage in that fight, to come out round after round.

I got a minor tear, it sucks. You gotta take a break for a while, im just glad i dont box for a living, guys like lacy rush into fighting without ever letting it heal right, cuz they need to put food on the table. HE cant afford to wait it out until its 100 percent again.

Anyway, i was always suprised, he had a pretty long amatuer career, but his boxing sucked. Noone can take anything away from his physicality, but the dude couldnt box for ****... thats why hes stuck now, he dosent have the skill to fall back on like good boxers do after injury (floyd,calzaghe,ect..)

I was never a fan of Lacy until after the Joe fight. He looked very good against fighters like Pemberton and Reid. The Calzaghe beating didn't really take as much as people say out of him i think. People seem to think thats what finished Jeff but as Widdow maker says it was the injury that really done Jeff in. His first fight back on the undercard of a fight i can't remember i thought Jeff was back he looked the same fighter he was before the Calzaghe fight. Then the injury happened around the 2nd or 3rd round i thought he was lucky to take the descision.
