Hasn't been announced yet but had a drink with a local journalist tonight and it is a trainer in Dallas, Texas - he couldn't remember the nameatsch but the trainer and an opponent will be announced soon. Any ideas on the trainer?:huh Also I asked him on the rumour about Steward; not true
Dallas, Texas means its almost deffinatley Ronnie Sheilds. Its good that he has gone to the states, but it doesn't make sense training so far away. Dallas to Sunderland will be a 15 hour door to door trip and Jeffries will fight at least 6 times next year.
I like jeffries but he does seem to be mentally a bit dim. I don't know if this is the right move for him but the experience should be good, he'll get more varied sparring
i don't think that changing his trainer will make any difference. it is his attitude that needs changed, he must realise he has done nothing as a pro and to succeed he needs to work hard and not listen to the hype.
I some what agree with you, although i know a guy that knows Bobby and he said Bobby's a lovely fella but he ain't greatest trainer. He allowed Jefferies to **** about and get away with murder. Shields won't stand for it. He's worked with actual real superstar fighters something sadly for Tony's ego he isn't and probably never will be outside of Sunderland.
I think also he needed the move for technical reasons. He reminds me of a **** Enzo in terms of he fires off his artillery with reckless effect. Difference is Enzo did it well for a while and had great power which Jefferies don't. I kept getting the feeling he's gonna get Ko'd like Enzo did on Saturday sooner rather then later because of way he has chin in air as he fires off. Shields will make him into a decent fighter which he was looking under Joe Gallagher.
If hes training in the states it would make much more sense fighting in the states....there is no reason at all why he has to fight in sunderland
Fighting in Sunderland has been half the problem. If I were in charge he wouldn't be fighting within 100 miles of the place.
THIS. He needs to stay as far away as possible, he's too caught up in the pride the fans have rather than his training. The fame around here has got to his head, which is definitely not a good thing this early in the game. Needs to work on improving more than pleasing his fans right now.
