Jeffries v Frazier !

Correct. The work out / sparring video is the lone up close and clear film of a prime. The workout showcases great speed, flexibility ( on the weights ), timing, reflexes, strength, and quickness of hand and foot, etc.. It is perhaps the best complete workout film at heavyweight. those who see it will never confuse Jeffries with a plodding slugger.

There is a rare film of Jeffries hitting a heavy bag. I wish some here could see it. After 10 seconds, the quick conclusion is this guy had some violent power. when he hits that bag, it jerks quickly in the direction his fists were traveling. I have seen Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano, and Sonny Liston hit the bag. I say Jeffries and Liston are about even hitting the heavy bag, and look to be more forceful than than Louis, Dempsey and Mariano hitting the bag.

It is likley thet heavy bags in these films ( which were filled with sand back in the early 1900's ), do not weight the same amount, so a fair conclusion on who worked the bag better is hard to reach. Just going on what they eyes see here.

 

I think the workrate for Frazier over 15 rds would be the difference here....Frazier by UD....Jeffries was strong and durable and had some power....Joe could have some rocky moments in a strong battle

 

I wish I had more to see to judge the fight on and give a more concrete opinion, but either a Frazier decision based on volume or a Jefferies decision based on capitalizing on Joe's defensive openings and fairly one-dimensional offense wouldn't surprise me. I don't think either man gets stopped, though.

 

What I've seen of Jeffries in his crouch w/ low-forward left makes me think he was pretty good at ducking the right and returning his left. But how relevant would that be against Frazier. Guys with facility in their left hands, Corbett, Fitzsimmons, seemed to get to Jeffries fairly well. I'm feeling more solid about favoring Frazier in a 15 round, Jeffries time machined into Frazier's day scenario. Still a tough fight, though.

On the other hand, in Jeffries day, maybe they would have tied up each others left hands? It could end up a suprisingly low-output contest for 15 rounds, with Jeffries coming on later.
