Read in the paper at the weekend he competed in a triathlon and I was quite suprised by his finish time and splits. He swam 1.5k,cycled 24miles and ran 10k in 2hrs 7min.His 10k time impressed me most 35min which is good going after the swim and cycle.
Didnt realise how fit these motor racing drivers were and to rub even more salt into the wounds he has a fit girlfriend too!
cycle time 63mins and swim 29 mins

you got to put it into context when you say how fit these race drivers are, he is a self confessed health and fitness fanatic, although you dont see any fat racers, i think there are only 2 that are as close to all round fitness as he is, i also believe mark webber is one of them.

They are very, very fit guys. They work their bodies for endurance because it's not as easy as it seems to control a car in such intense speeds. Lewis Hamilton is simular.

Michael Schumacher was also renowned for his fitness levels, as was David Coulthard.

As for Button, you only need to watch the end of the Monaco GP. He parked up in the wrong place, and had to run half way round the track for the trophy presentation - he didn't even take his helmet off for the run!

Your average joe gets knackered in a couple of laps as a passenger in an f1 car let alone as a driver. The very high g forces and heat for an hour and a half requires excellent conditioning to keep concentration from slipping.

They are fit guys these days.

Montoya was a bit of a fatty but they all have to train.

The neck muscles in particular need strengthening.
