Although I am a dedicated Kelly Pavlik fan, I have a feeling that Taylor will pull off the upset, he seems more dedicated now than ever:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You're OK not fighting for a belt this time?
"When I win, I'll be walking out of there with everything he took from me. I'm walking out of there with my pride."

As boxing fans, we must support and respect a guy like Taylor, he's never ducked a challenge, and hes fighting for pride right now, it's really do or die time for him, and I believe we will see the best of Jermain Taylor in Feb.

At the end of the day, we will have two great, respectable champions in one ring!:happy

Taylor is a likeable guy. If he wins, I think that would be the best thing for boxing. Because then we would probably get to see a sweet trilogy!

How can anybody who is a fan of boxing not like this kid? Jermain and Kelly are the epitome of what is right about boxing. Screw anybody who thinks otherwise:happy

An early Pavlik KO would be my worst nightmare. I like both of them a lot, but if that happens then the fans will be deprived of sustained action. And Taylor's career gets thrown into ****ing limbo.

I have nothing but respect for Taylor and I know the rematch will be a great fight but whether or not he had enough time to fix things remains to be seen.

Another loss could quite possibly ruin Jermain's career.. that's my belief.
And yeah.. how can anyone not like this kid? He's exactly what boxing is all about, sure.. he's had some boring fights in the past, but he never ducked nobody, he never avoided nobody...

Taylor has a lot of upside even if he gets Ko'd again, he did beat Hopkins 2x, and was the MW champ of the world, that counts for something. Pavlik is only one man, Taylor can still fight other fighters, and has the possibility of beating most. So it wouldnt be the worse outcome, the worst outcome would be retirement.

Just after the first fight, I made a thread about the possible similarities between Ingemar Johansson - Patterson and Pavlik - Taylor.
I think there may be something to this, but we'll all have to wait and see, if Taylor wins, there should be a third fight at 160lbs, or another catchweight fight, for the titles. I hope Taylor wins.. he's a good kid and he's still got a bright future ahead!:bbb

Taylor is likeable indeed. But dedication in training camp and having the mental strength to put it together in the ring are two different and somewhat unrelated things. If a fighter never showed mental strength under fire by a certain age, I think it is very difficult to develop it. Wlad my be an exception, but I don't think Taylor has the mental tools to suddenly be cool and composed in situations when he always got nervous in fights. Pavlik on the other hand stays calm whether he is in trouble or has his opponent in trouble. In the balance of strengths and weaknesses, Pavlik is a clear favorite. Taylor beat a lot of small guys and beat Hopkins largely on workrate. Pavlik is huge and easily KO'd guys at 175. His workrate will always be superior to Taylors. The idea before the first fight was that Taylor has a big advantage in speed and boxing skills, but Pavlik was very effective with his style and held his own during the parts of the fight that were a boxing match. Pavlik actually won the jab contest in round 3, 6 and 7. Taylor's best moment of the fight was set up by Pavlik making a stupid mistake, Pavlik on the other hand earned his KO with his own skills without requiring Taylor to do something terribly wrong. I feel for Taylor, but he should have never beed build as a star, it is sad to see how he fails to fit that image HBO created for him.

Yeah these Pavlik groupies and their explanation on why Kelly got knock down is hilarious..Anything to build their fighter up.. I saw a fighter not quick enough to react to Jermain combinations..They saw a fighter being cute and daring Jermain to hit him..
