Not gonna get into the usual who wins there is/will be a lot of threads about that. Was just wondering what weight you guys think this fight would or ought to take place at.

I feel that GBP will make it at l140lbs for khans WBA title, main reason being that he's theyre new young (bought) star who they're paying a lot of money to make it in the states. Its clear that they would rather Khan fight JMM who, while still a great fighter, did appear to slow alot towards the end of the Diaz fight and poses less of a threat to Khans chin (not hating) than the top guys at 140lbs.

JMM is a marquee name and deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as chavez sr, barrera and morales amongst this eras great mexican fighters. I dont think it will happen but I think he has earned the right to have the fight at 135lbs for being at world level for a lot longer than Amir.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks. J

It will 100% be at 140lbs for Khans Light Welterweight belt.

ive said before and will say again, why dont we make the fight at 137/138. Roach loves catchweight fights and seems a better time than any to have 1

I wish Khan could still make 135, as this would be the fairest way, but can't see past 140 TBH. Shame really, as JMM wont pose a great threat at the weight, so it looks great on paper. He just doesn't carry his threat up the weights unfortunately

Roach loves catchweight when his fighters are the ones coming up, not down.

theres no way Khan makes 137 now.

JMM was 133 last Saturday, remember he's only had a few fights at lightweight. I can see him still chasing a 3rd Pacman fight but I seem to recall JMM having high $ demands and having to settle for Khan. Khans making 140 easily, he does look good at the weight but with Alex Ariza overseeing his conditioning is 135 really a 100% no-go for him. Beating JMM at the lower weight would do a lot more for his legacy, not just making Amir a 2-weight world champ for what its worth but shows he's up for a challenge.

As i said in the op im with you guys it'll be at lww but its a shame its a closer fight at lw

Precisely, Amir needs Juan more than the other way round. Thing is that Marquez for so long was in the shadows of barrera, morales etc I just wonder if the prospect of a title in a 4th weight class (unprecedented for a Mexican) might sway it

My point exactly LP :) and without having to face tough fights with Murray, Diaz, Katsidis etc. Real shame, also isnt it going to be over here??... Errr what was the point in going to GBP if they're just going to ship you back home after 1 fight??

i think it will sway it, he has that sort of warrior mentality, which is why i said 137/138 would be ideal, specially if khan was drained making the weight

 Get outta here, Maidana-Corley and Ortiz-Harris will be barnstormers....

We're talking like this is a dead cert lads, its v likely but is there a chance JMM will turn it down? It might seem ludicrous but what about Marquez-Morales/Barerra? We're talking about Juan being a warrior and wanting to solidify his legacy, I know all 3 of these greats are on the slide but Marquez not fighting either of them (again in Bararras case) could hurt him down the line when us bloggers run the rule on his career when he retires. Neither are a fight he needs imo Im a huge Marquez fan but with his mindset can we rule them out?

Think its wrong that a (surely) future HOF fighter should be made to fight out of his comfort zone to please a relative newbie to the world scene. I like Khan the guy and the fighter none of this is down to him its just 1 of the annoyances in the sport atm
