Record books show a guy who was 176 lb max, fought a draw with Bob Fitzsimmons, a draw with Jefferies when he was in his prime not the relic Johnson beat and knocked out Jack Johnson!! I was watching the Jefferies Johnson video and he was sparring with Jefferies. Unheralded great no doubt, anyone know about him?

There is a great book out on him, highly recommended.

He seems to have been a stud of a fighter for his height, if he had been a bit bigger he would have given the best of the best fits in trying to beat him.

Only the best beat Joe but they did tend to beat him. Still under 175 lbs he was top class.

Get Chris LaForce's biography on Choynski, one of the best boxing books around.

It's a little pricey but you get a lot of book. It's well researched and very well written.
