Joyce is kinda like Fundora. Physically imposing and good at breaking people down, but defense is a liability. We knew Joyce had a good chin, but this is like Margarito vs Mosley. The faster, more powerful guy broke down a guy with a good chin, but no defense.
I had him down as the 4th best heavy in the world. The thing is, I still think he beats most of the top 10 but then where do you rank Zhang?
He looked even slower than usual the first three rounds tonight, took some huge shots and nearly went down round two.
He was getting beat up in there. I don’t think there was much hope for him if the fight continued because Zhang was actually pacing himself and didn’t waste any punches. He probably had about 3 good rounds left in the tank and that honestly would’ve just destroyed Joyce’s eye.
It's exposed how much inertia there is in the Heavyweight division. Guys who should have been out of the top 10 YEARS ago are still there because they fight twice a year (at best).
Typical JJ performance tonight, only 2 things he has is size advantage and a chin. Very slow with his hands, feet and has no upper reflex movement. The win over Parker was made too big a deal out of, a way past it Parker who’d been in 1 too many tough fights and I reckon there are middleweights who hit harder than him.
Here we go. He wasn't exposed, he was beat by another top heavy. Happens when you actually fight good fighters a lot, which is why guys like Fury and Wilder don't.
Zhang was very clever tonight taking a lot of shots on the gloves,arms,shoulders and patiently waiting to land the left as soon as he was in range and the opening presented itself,it seemed at times he was just landing that left far too easily .
Joyce is mostly known for his size and chin. He can take a lot of fighter's shots without blinking and then break them down with volume. Other than that, he's not known for anything else. Tonight, he was fighting a bigger man with a powerful left hand and he couldn't take the power like he normally did.
