I thought that the Joe Louis piece was very well done by HBO. Not so much so that I learned anything new, but the footage itself was worth watching. Towards the end of his life, it was truly sad to see how the Government had Louis by the balls. But if you missed it, I would reccomend catching the replay on HBO.

As for the Klitschko fight ... I had a few friends over who aren't really into boxing, but I kept telling them how Klitschko was a "Steel Hammer" and it should be a nice night to see a KO. Boy was I wrong! :patsch

Yeah it was a great documentary and did you notice how Wrangel and Lampley used it last night as a political pitch for Obama?:patsch

Great documentary about Louis almost brought a tear to my eye towards the end.

I agree. They showed a brief clip of the Louis/Ezzard Charles fight that was much clearer than anything that I've seen before.

I didn't like the way they played up Joe Louis as a victim with the US Gov as a big bully. Then lightly talked about how it was his out of control spending that got him into so much trouble in the first place.

Personally i didnt know very much of the Joe Louis's story, but now i know , i'm going to watch it again , it impressed me so much and at the same time it was so sad at the end. He was a great champ. I wish i could have seen his fights in his prime. HBO put up a good documentary of one of boxing's great :thumbsup

agreed...it was a bit one sided...although it did portray how Louis, though flawed, was a great man.

Very good. Being in tight with Frank in those days must have been a blast

    It was an excellent documentary.

Louis's decline was sad. It was terribly unfortunate how he ended up.
