Quick question for the classic: How was Louis' inside game?

From what I've seen he was a fighter that threw short, compact combinations with perfect technique. His preferred distance seemed just a touch closer than middle range, working his way in behind a jab and a shuffle.

How did he fair on the inside? I've seen very little footage of him in an up close battle. How were his hooks? How was his body attacks? Did he really have a preferred distance or did he fight at any quarter?

Against lessor fighter he tore them to pieces.

But he said about Marciano: "Rocky crowded me...and I don't like that."

In the first fight, Godoy gives Louis a lot of trouble by randomly holding/mauling him at close quarters. In the rematch though, an adjusted Louis rips him apart at close quarters and stops him. I don't think anyone ever troubled Louis on the inside after that until he fought Marciano, by which time he was old and his punching power largely gone.
