You see the video and he looks superb.

That right is crazy, Giardello never struck me as a crushing puncher like that.

    Cant wait for this.

Giardello always struck me as one of those fighters that fought to the level of his opposition. Very cagey, well-schooled fighter.

BTW does anyone have the second Rocky Rivero fight complete? I have the first fight which is a great scrap and every other round of their second fight but looking for a complete version.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The first time I saw Joey Giardello fight was on Oct.26,1950, at Eastern Parkway Arena.
Giardello who was an up and comer then ,was hit with a left hook and kod by Harold Green in the sixth round..Perfect punch..But joey bounced back from that loss, learned
his craft and became a great wily boxer-puncher, who became middleweight champion.
He never seemed to get ruffled in his fights, and fought everybody in his 133 bout career. I would best vdescribe Giardello as a PRO'S PRO.. A thinking man's fighter...

As I have posted before GP, I saw Joey Giardello live once in 1950 when he was ko'd by an acquaintance of mine Harold Green at Eastern Pkwy
Arena. But I saw him many times on TV in the talent rich 1950s...Joey wasa Pro's Pro..Never got ruffled in a fight !

I agree with this placement, Its funny because I remember Joey back in day but started to appreciate his many talents later on. I could imagine how great he could have been if he really took care of himself. There are story's that he smoked a pack of ciggerettes a day and that having boxed is something I can not fathom

Haven't seen one of his fights in awhile but will do so. I might even become a fan of his I love technicians but it's a shame there's no career set that I can find of him, I would love to have some of his fights.

Can they be purchased? I see some on youtube but haven't come across a career set yet. Props to you for making this thread.

The media was hyping Giardello up as the next Graziano when he was coming up although the comparisons wouldn't stick for long.

The guy was a real old school Philly pro who probably could of even shown Hopkins a thing or two in the ring. His fight with Fullmer is one of the most wild, foul-filled brawls I've ever seen. That battering ram headbutt by Joey G cracks me up every time.

Yeh that fight with Fullmer is rough stuff. The head butt was funny as hell.
