Watched Conteh's title winning fight against Jorge Ahumada again last night. What a magnificent performance by Conteh. It's a shame that injuries and outside problems shortened his prime years. IMO he had the potential to be Britain's best ever pound for pound.

How about that Ahumada? He sure was a handful for anybody at the time. He sure hasn't stood the test of time too well but the guy did everything well.

No need to talk about how highly I rate him, I've done it to death. But a boxer winning on Superstars is always impressive. :yep

Without doubt the best rumour of who put out 'the word' on Conteh, was Ronnie Corbett.

I'm not telling you, you'll have to ask Conteh. It could be libelous.

Shame he didn't get the decision against Bob Foster. Deserved a world title.

He was a great fighter.GREAT.He had the misfortune of fighting when the lightheavyweight division was stacked.Conteh,Saad Muhammed,Qawi,Spinks,Ahumada,Galindez,Lopez,Scott,Mustafa Muhammed,Johnson, the Davis brothers,Martin,Rossman.Whew.I'm tired just typing those names. How the **** did anyone get out of there alive?Conteh is the only English fighter that I love.Nobody can deny that all of those guys were monsters.Ah,the memories.Greatness.Good luck and God bless to that great Merseysider.
