Since this fight was in Northern Ireland it technically was in the UK , but both organisations are pretty similar when it comes to rules anyway and it's the same as regards refs scoring fights in the Republic .
nice to hear that Duddy looked good. I wasnt able to get the stream going today, so I missed it and saw the Abraham fight instead. Sounds like the fight went almost exactly how I predicted it, with Duddy winning a close points decision in an entertaining fight.

I thought the fight was very close and Eastman could maybe have sneaked a draw in England with three judges. Duddy has a lot of heart but was clearly stunned by two consecutive uppercuts from Eastman. It was a great fight to watch with each fighter having their moments. Duddy is entertaining and likeable but he just doesn't have the boxing brain to compete at the highest level. He started the fight very well but the wily Eastman fooled him into fighting on his terms and almost stole it.
i would like to see duddy fed to pavlik, miranda, taylor, abraham.... one of the established names, i think it would be a decent fight with decent hype, and a relatively easy enough time for them to get some good rounds in and a good name for a W.
Eastman should have had a point deducted for landing a combo when the ref called break , couldn't hear my arse . He tried it a few times after the bell too . You could also say that Eastman should have had a knockdown called against him in round 7 . So even if you think 3 judges in England would have given a draw(I think they could only have only done so by being biased in Eastman's favour) he deserved to lose .
Duddy odesn't have enough going forward I think to be a threat at world level - very likeable and has a very good chin, but a bit rough around the edges. Would get found out at the top level.
Going life and death with a shot Howard Eastman is not impressive. 96-94? **** me, even Wayne Elcock did better than that and he just got starched by Arthur Abraham. Wayne Elcock is a british level fighter, top 25 in the world at best, and he managed to beat Eastman properly. John Duddy is ok, but if he comes up against Sturm, Abraham, Taylor, Miranda or Pavlik he gets beat. Thats based on one fight, but Eastman is a good measuring-stick in this division.
Sturm had a life and death struggle with the ATG Randy Griffin. He doesn't use his legs anymore, just stands in front of his opponent. Not a very clever tactic if you've got a questionable chin, a leaky double guard and no power. 40% Sturm on points 30% Duddy T/KO 25% Duddy on points 5% draw
I am glad to hear that he won. Maybe he should step it up soon. If Wright fights and beats Campos, maybe Duddy could fight the winner.
