    Very true.

Whilst ive never been a fan, he was one of the best heavies of recent times. Shite but effective.

got owned by Roy Jones who then went on to prove he was shot to shite.

Ruiz was an average fighter who maximised his achievements, for that I give him maximum respect.

Well done on a great career.

He achieved way above his abilities which were severely limited, but were covered due to good promotion and good politics and a great heart.

All the best to him, he may have been boring to watch but i'm sure he has earnt himself a half decent retirement and deserves respect for the guts he showed against Haye.

A man who did the best with the amount of talent that he had.

Glad he called it a day. He had some nasty injuries after the Haye fight and i think that and fact he won't beat any of the 3 top guys in the division he'd only be fighting for the $$$ and once you fight for solely money then it's downhill from there on in.

He had a very good career and can always say he was Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Well respect to him - don't really get the total hate he got before hand or the sudden love when people found out he was to meet Haye.

Well Haye sums it up for me :

I've just heard John Ruiz has retired. I wish him well in the next chapter of his life. He was, is and will always be a Gallant Warrior.
