I made a little John Ryder highlights video from a few of his later fights. Hope a few enjoy it.

Currently my favorite fighter to watch with the father-in-law.

He's defiantly walked the walk up at super middle so far. Will be the boxing highlight of 2023 for me if he gets the Canelo fight.

Thought I'd also add a poll to see if you guys think Ryder will do a better job than the UK Canelo challengers so far....

Pointless fight. I’d rather see Alvarez in with a competitive opponent. Sentiment doesn’t really entertain me.

I think it’s a good fight for Canelo at 168. I think Ryder will do better than Callum Smith but not as well as BJS.

You never know, the fight could take place in the UK. I’m glad to see Ryder getting a big opportunity as he clearly deserves it.

Just fight at the higher weights then?

It's not all sentiment, I do think Ryder is underrated and extremely good when he's warmed into a fight. Canelo's a slow starter as well. I think Ryder's style possesses a unique challenge.

I'm not under the illusion Canelo will be anything but a heavy favorite. But I do think Ryder can win.

Ryder is obviously a game boxer and that is appreciated but he wouldn’t put a scratch on Alvarez. At best, he’d make him work quite hard for a while. That doesn’t make for an entertaining bout with an uncertain outcome. I think he beat Smith and got hard done by. It would be good for him to pick up a belt at least before being mashed by Alvarez.

I know he beat him back in the day, but I think Ryder is better than BJS and it would be the other way around if they met again.

Canelo in the UK would be pretty massive.

Mismatch. Got no interest in seeing Canelo fight anyone other than Benavidez at 168.

If it’s over here they’ll roll the red carpet out like they did when Lomachenko fought Campbell.

Ryder is just below world level but above European/Commonwealth. It's tricky for him.

I like John. A very game and brave man but he is cut out to make Alverez look good. Take the money and good luck. Probably a career ending hammering.

Ryder will be there to hit.

BJS got hit in round 1 and ran away until that punch landed in the 8th, causing it to be a very dull fight. With only Canelo actually trying to make a fight of it.

Callum Smith froze and didn’t even try to win.

Ryder will take more punches than either Smith or BJS. But he will also cause more problems and land more of his own work. It will be a more entertaining fight.

I agree. Hope Ryder gets paid well because he has no chance against Canelo.

Canelo probably lost a little bit of confidence post Bivol schooling.

BJS fight was a slaughter and Callum Smiths corpse was pathetic.

I think Ryder will have more success than both not that, that would be too hard.

Jacobs gave Canelo a much better fight than either of them too.

I think Ryder gets stopped but his out put and style will make it entertaining while it lasts. Will be interesting to see Canelo fight a bloke same proportions. Ryder probably a little taller and bigger tbf.

I like Ryder as a person. I don’t really like this fight though.

The issue I have is I think Ryder on his best night doesn’t beat Canelo on his worst night.

Ryder is also tailor made for Canelo style wise. Negating the fact that it will be his biggest night and the pressure that comes with that, he will try and set a pace (which is a good thing) but Canelo is too cute, will walk him on to shots and his accuracy and power will be far too much.

It will be good to have Canelo in the UK but I would see a mid to late round stoppage in a one sided fight.

I'm genuinely looking forward to this fight if it actually happens

Ryder will give a very good account of himself

When Ryder is really on it, he can look mightily effective and pretty devastating and him being a betting underdog usually seems to get him well up for a fight. Still doubt very much he would beat Alvarez, although Canelo did look somewhat diminished to me in both the Bivol and GGG rubber match. Just seemed to be missing a little of the usual speed, snap of punch and work rate, although Bivol may have just nullified much of those traits, think Ryder will at least be competitive before being starched out of the blue.
