True enough, I still can't stand how everyone will drastically change opinions based on 1 fight, against a good but not outstanding fighter. p.s.: I know Vitor was great but he's not been the good old Vitor for a while now.
I think everyone is just excited that Anderson has found his killer instinct again. He along with Fedor are the most excitng fighters in MMA for that reason.
I think Vitor is one of the best in the business personally. His footspeed was always gonna be a weakness against Silva though
And so am I, does that mean that because of this highlight reel KO it is now obvious that he'd destroy GSP with his hand tied behind his back with one eye closed? I guess that's what's bugging me. I'm not even sure what was your opinion about how the silva-GSP fight would go as this wasn't directly aimed at you. But before the Silva-Belfort fight, most would've agreed that Silva-GSP would be amongst the biggest superfights in MMA history. And now after a half-round fight, Silva is thought to clearly be on another level and would easily destroy GSP/Jones. So my question comes down to this: How did the general opinion of the Silva-GSP fight change so much after a fight that lasted 2:35 with 1 punch and 1 kick thrown? (probably not exact but it can't be far) wish i could formulate this or express myself as good as you, but I just ain't that good in english.
Well I think Anderson could ko or finish pretty much anybody below 205, that has never been in doubt. I think the lack lustre performances of late, like the 3 I mentioned earlier left a feeling of wanting to see the good guy, being GSP in this case defeat Silva for his douchey behaviour in the Octogan. But the Belfort ko and coming though a hard fight and getting the sub almost Gracie style against Chael reminded people of how good Sitlva can be and that he can take punishment from a strong wrestler and still win Now there's no doubt GSP can out wrestle Silva. But I think the chances of him doing it for 5 rounds without getting ko'd or subbed have dwindled in most peoples minds, when you consider the points Ive made. But thats the fight game I guess, fickle old game aint it. But they both are dominant, and their strengths & weakness match so well it has got to happen at some point
That all makes sense, in my personal opinion GSP at the moment has more chances of beating Silva than any MW would. I have always believed that Silva would have the edge and the odds on his side. (to make an attempt at sticking to the thread I think Jones would have equally good chances of winning as GSP, and not superior because he is not as experienced.) I probably just hate how GSP is getting entirely counted out as if he didn't stand a chance at all ever since Silva has beaten Belfort. I still want to see that fight no matter what happens in the future. Still, very valid points my man, but I still believe a lot of people here turned their opinions simply based on the front kick and don't look in depth what both fighters pros and cons would be in this potential superfight. :good
Jones. He is big for a LHW nevermind a middle weight moving up. Too much of a physical advantage to overcome. Especially as Jones looks the real deal as well as being a ****ing massive LHW.
You do remember the ref raising Anderson's hand after those fights right?? Anderson would find holes in Jones stand up, you really don't think Anderson's gonna get dropped by a spinning elbow do you? As far as the ground game is concerned, Hendo and Sonnen aren't slouches on the mat, maybe where Jones advantage over Hendo and Sonnen on the ground lay are his submissions but lets not forget Anderson has some slick BJJ himself. I like Jones, he's great for the sport but as for all this talk of him destroying Silva and Rua, in the words of 'The Wolf' from Pulp Fiction "let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet"
Right now, I will say Jones because Jones is bigger but also because they are the same stylistically in their approach - dynamic innovators.
