This Argentinian welterweight/middleweight fought Emile Griffith 3 times, and Carlos Monzon twice...any opinions on this kayo artist from South America?

As I recall Jorge Fernandez, he wasn't ever a KO artist;just a tough strong slugger. I don't remember him stopping or knocking that many people out. Emile Griffith gave him a title shot and ended up delivering a low blow in the ninth round which finished Jorge for the evening. I never could figure out why they didn't disqualify Griffith and award the fight to Fernandez.Does anyone else recollect this fight?

I also remember Fernandez outpointing Denny Moyer a couple of times and also Isacc Logart. Logart had stopped Fernandez in a previous bout.

BUMP BUMP! good tread. Fernandez was robbed against Griffith in first fight. It was very good performance from underrated Jorge!

Jorge Fermandez was one of the last men to deck Carlos Monzon, that occurred on Sept 3 1966 for the Argentine and South American Middleweight Title won by Carlos by unanimous decision. The last opponent to deck Monzon was Rodrigo Valdes on July 30 1977 in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Monzon retained by unanimous decision, then retired.
