Maybe he had other fights scrapped from his record due to "inconsistances"?

My guess would be an incomplete record of small fights in South/Latin America before the Duran fight and possibly inbetween Duran and Moorer.

    Great find!!:good

Durans lightweight career is littered with that type of opponent. I've never really looked into it but I've always thought incomplete records the most likely answer (that and Duran fancying the odd easy defence to earn a few dollars)

Durans record is littered with tuneups - sometimes fighting with remarkable regularity. Can't really imagine any top level boxer doing the same nowadays. Closest i suppose would be Sergio Martinez, but even that isn't particularly similar.

I think Duran liked to spend money and needed to earn it even when he wasn't in the best shape, hence the number of tune ups against iffy opponents.

Ishimatsu was completely inconsistent but hard to beat on a good night :good

Duran fought **** loads of times and **** loads of times against formidable opposition. Whether incomplete records or total jokers, I wouldn't say it detracts from him as a fighter and basically just deem those fights as inconsequential. He won 'em, that's what matters.

I can't be arsed to post the link, but Venice Borkorsor was stopped only once...against one the Muay Thai 'jokers' making his debut  Unbelievable, I think Wonjogkam was deemed lucky to escape with a 'W' against a similar opponent recently.
