Think he deserves a thread after tonight. Took a tough debut (compared to recent pro debutants) and looked quality IMO. Great shot selection, loved the way he threw the uppercuts in there. Looks flashy, like how he works the shoulder roll and he has Booth as his trainer.

Will be a force domestically at 147 and I can see an Eggington fight within 18 months.

Only downside is I think he overdoes the "pretty boy" gimmick and I think he may be trying to hard to come across as cocky and arrogant. Excited to see him out again later this month on the Wembley card.

Certainly has some good head moment and feet

    Loose hands too. Very confident

Good fight to start of with too as well..a fighter that has come to win at least

    Was very entertaining too

You could see he had that Booth style within the first 30 seconds. Lovely fast hands and confidence.
As you say too cocky for my liking but seems sound deep down.
Very impressed and looking forward to watching his career.

I hope he doesn't irritate boxing fans with his showboating style, it was a little OTT at times and people turned on DeGale very quickly early on because of the over the top showboating and attitude in the ring.

Looks a very talented fighter though, if he gets his head down, stays in the gym and continues to learn he will have a successful career.

think he looked really good. seen a couple of people elsewhere say he looked good but has no power, which i think is a bit unfair seeing as Byrne went the distance with Felix Cash at middle a month or so back and Felix Cash was going after the stoppage. i don't really have any problem with his "flashy" style as long as he keeps performing,i don't see why other people would, its exciting to see someone with flair as long as they back it up, and tbd i think Hearn forced PBK on him a bit

Thought he looked absolutely superb, great to watch, had a lot of confidence and a swagger about him. A lot of people in the game giving him a lot of praise last night, think if he keeps his head down with Booth he'll have a very successful career.

Lack of power thing is very harsh, he's 23, tough opening fight and he did wobble Byrne a couple of times, actually did him a lot better going 6 rounds than knocking someone out in 10 seconds like Okolie

As I said in a previous post, they showed a lot of confidence putting him in with someone of the quality of Byrne for his debut. He will have learned 10x more from that fight than some of the joke matchmaking that has occured lately for debutantes (Okolie, Dubois, even Katie Taylor).

Kelly was very impressive, and also that fight was at 154 but he will be moving back down to 147 straight away. He will be a huge welterweight, they need to not rush him and keep him in learning fights like that.

My only concern is that he was blowing quite hard in the 6th round, but pacing himself can be learnt as he moves through the fights.

Who said he had lack of power? Byrne is durable, it was his first fight and also he was fighting at a higher-weight 154 than he will be campaigning at (moving back down to 147 now).

What do they want? To put him in with jokes like Okolie and Dubois got on their debuts?

    Some people.

That's how he's always boxed even as a junior amateur. Not because of Booth.
