Saw Cawley fight in person against Ray Mercer back in 2003. Cawley was in pure survival mode from the start of that one. Lots of trips to the canvas, more to get out of danger than from actually being hit hard, much like his fight with Rahman in the above post. A whole lot of clinching as well until Mercer finally nailed him with a right hand and laid him out.

My bad. Overlooked it because there were screen shots for the other 3, but just a link for the Mercer fight. Just watched. Pretty much the way I remember it...

Cawley was ok on the regional scene and on paper had a good record but was way out of his depth against anyone inside the top 50.

He was on about the same level as Marvin Hunt, Brad Rone and that argentine fella with all the tattoos who had a statistically good record but got absolutely walloped anytime he fought anyone with a pulse

I just knew that Rahman fight was gonna be one of the links, Jesus that was horrible

I think Cawley was one of those guys that probably shouldn't have ever even been near a ring. I'm pretty sure he never even beat anyone with a winning record (ala Peter Mcneeley) :duh

He may be the worst "name" HW of the modern era with the exception of Owen Beck
