Joyce just walks through him with zero respect for Jennings power. He’s that slow, that when Jennings lands clean on him Joyce will only feel it next Thursday. I’ll be surprised if Jennings sees the 6th round. He is getting absolutely starched in this one.
Is Joyce pretty good then ? I think Jennings is possible a proper step up for him. Jennings is past it and coming off a KO loss but he's probably got a lot more in his tank than the pathetic has-beens Joyce has feasted on lately. Jennings actually gave Rivas a good fight a few months ago, and Rivas is being picked by some to beat Whyte. So how good is this Joyce fella ?
Opinions vary, some think he is a KO waiting to happen and others think he is a dangerous mofo. I rate him.
Joyce, based on skillset and technical ability, is pretty poor IMO. Also easy to hit and as slow as a week in the jail. But he makes up for it in other areas. Really big, really strong, top class fitness and engine, quite heavy handed and appears to have a good chin. He deserves his status as legit contender, but still loses to all the top dogs IMO. I like him as a fighter personally. He comes to fight and it will take somebody really good to beat him. He deserves his "juggernaut" moniker too. The man's relentless.
Agree with the above. The juggernaut is one of the most appropriate names in boxing. He’s absolutely relentless. Just keeps ploughing forward. He’s slow and takes a lot on the face/chin but it seems fairly solid. I don’t think he’s an elite level boxer and will come up short against the very top but everyone else id make him a favourite against, the likes of Whyte, Pulev etc.
I agree with this. He’s a really big lad, very heavy handed and actually keeps a good distance so he gets a load of power in them shots. His defence is utterly reckless and a fighter with good feet would beat him. However, there’s only a handful of them about (Ruiz, Hunter, Usyk, the Fury’s) and they’re all easily avoided.
Joyce looks good so far but I reserve judgement like I did with Tony Dosh PPV and Big Dave Price until I see how they react when in with an opponent of similar ability.
Joyce vs Jennings is actually a really good match up to be fair. Jennings can box, and Joyce can definitely be outboxed. In saying that, I still think Joyce will win tonight but it's a good clash of styles and another step up for Joyce, against a style which shouldn't suit him, on paper.
I can't make my mind up on Joyce. He looks extremely slow and limited. His punches appear forced and he makes Joshua look slick. In saying that, the chap is 265 lean. That's a mountain of a man and his stamina is fantastic. A man weighing 265 pounds with great stamina has an advantage over 99% of opponents from the off. He has a relentless come forward style and so far nobody has been able to slow him down. (If he can get any slower, that is) His opposition thus far has been decent and he's progressing nicely in fairness. Like Jurgs, I'll be reserving judgment until I see more. Hard to assess at the moment but I like the guy and wish him all the best. I think Jennings is the right opponent who will give Joyce a test.
It’s mad because he is sooooooo slow and ponderous but I still feel he’s got the tools in his box to be a nightmare for 95% of heavyweight boxers.
I remember when everyone was calling Froch trash but he kept winning. Froch looked poor coming up with his slow feet, slow hands and bad defence. Joyce might be like that.
