Joyce v Ortiz

Interesting fight.
From one perspective an inexperienced, upright come forward opponent is a countering southpaw's dream and Ortiz tees off on Joyce. From another perspective Joe's youth, size and power tell and he breaks the aging Ortiz down.

I look forward to departing with £20 for the privilege of watching this.

 

Crazy to jump up so many levels so quickly. Joyce needs a tough fight soon but Ortiz is too big a jump in class. Needs a few more before jumping in with Ortiz.

 

I would be much more interested in this fight than Whyte Chisora. although I will watch that one also.

 

Surprising how hard it is for guys like Joyce to make his way in the game nowadays. Its like he's got leprosy. Been almost begging for fights. Where are the mid level guys. You,d think they,d be a lot of guys queing up to fight him without him needing to call out Ortiz and even chisora. We know he's in a rush but surely he can still squeeze in two or three mid level fights in between it in a pretty brief timeframe.

Kind of shows his level to me no ones really taking a chance on him. Not too sure of his promoters apart from haye. Who let's be honest didn't really want to shell out on him. The only guys that want to take him on seem just to want to get a big fight to make some money off him...without needing to invest in him. If he was the next big thing....like hate was trying to tell us pretty sure someone would have took the chance of doing a proper job with his career. Holding he can carve something out tho. Just perplexed why its so hard to get going in the game for him. Pretty sure he was a good amateur etc. Its just been average guys so far. And now attempting to go in with good experienced world level guys.

 

Joyce has a fair bit of amateur experience and has shared the ring with some excellent fighters.

I think he stops Ortiz if he makes him box at a pace he’s uncomfortable at. He will empty Ortiz’s gas tank by the championship rounds.

 

I believe Ortiz is the most talented Heavyweight around after Tyson Fury.
However he’s lazy and that’s what’s stopped him being a formidable world champion IMO.
Not a good fight for Joyce who doesn’t carry murderous power, he’s not going to outbox Ortiz, He may however set too high a pace, but it’s not a high paying fight.

If I was him I’d smash David Price, then then face Hughie Fury or Chisora/Whyte loser(winner likely to face AJ never mind the AJ wilder noise), or even Joe Parker.

 

Does a win over Ortiz make Joyce the new bogeyman?

He would have a scalp of one of the most avoided fighters in the division so shown that he is dangerous and would be a top contender and well ranked, but to the neutral, they probably don't know who Joyce is and won't give him his dues for beating Ortiz.

Fighters would then demand big money to fight Joyce, and he won't have the casual interest to draw the revenue to make them. I feel this could result in him becoming the new Ortiz. From a boxing fans POV I'd rather see him fight Ortiz, but think he needs to fight a Chisora level known fighter to become a British star and make the money he wants in his short boxing career.

 

To be frank this year could mean next December.
But it's kind of expected, Haymon guys only fight each other.
That's how Haymon operates unless it's a big fight.

Joyce's best options are Kownacki, Ortiz and Breazeale.

 

I seen one of the nutritionists in the Ukraine boxing program said that Bermane Stiverne told him Luis Ortiz is 49 as he was 27 at the Pan American games that Stiverne competed in when he was 18. That's a few people who have now claimed he is ten years older than stated and I believe it.

Joyce wins.

 

Unless he did his paper round in Chernobyl... I think we can safely assume Ortiz is in his mid 40's.

 

Fascinating fight if it happens.

I'd hand over £20 for that no problem.
