Just rewatching Hearns v Leonard and the TV coverage shows the actual judges scorecards in between each round.

When and why did this change?

Helps hide the corruption. Imagine the outrage had some of the Bird cards been tracked all night aha

As per my knowledge, that's a common practice on reruns.

HBO fights on YouTube which are in the " we'll take you to the night it happened" format do so, the fights which aren't in this type of format don't do this.

There’s also the opposite from the time when HBO first began showing up and buying some of the bigger fights — it would air live on HBO or Closed Circuit) and the next weekend ABC or CBS or NBC would have the replay rights. Sometimes they’d show the scores and have the fighters in studio to talk about the fight as it progressed, cutting to them every third round or so.

Holmes-Cooney, Holmes-Witherspoon and Leonard-Hearns I’m pretty sure were like this.
