how often do you jump rope?..lately ive cut down on morning 30 min runs and replaced with rope conditioning..doing 60 sec jump rope..rest for 30 sec and repeat for 20 mins..similar to interval sprints.

20 mins is good but 2 min and 30 sec interval would be better. I do 2 mins and 1 min rest for about 15 mins and im a relative beginner. Although skipping is better than running in some respects dont cut running out

Mix it up . Start off with bog standard alternative foot , then near the end of the round last 30 secs in you can sprint.

Do you think its better to skip in rounds or to skip just for a prolonged period of time. When I skip i just got for say 20 minutes

I think its generally agreed that its better in rounds. Your recovery rate increases loads. But at my gym the trainer uses it as a warm up for us and we dont do rounds then. But i do at home. (he puts all us beginners in one group maybe the people that have bin there longer do it in rounds i dunno) doesnt bother me either way really but in rounds your recovery become ace.

Lol well you should really. You must be alot fitter than me. Are you doing it intense enough should be getting your heart rate right up there. Try 3 min rounds instead with only 30 secs rest and really go for it in the last 30 secs of each round.

    try intervals, something like this:

    30 seconds sprints
    15 second break

    10 times.

Yeah i was gonna say... Must not be doing sprints..

Also, dont try to do any fancy ****, it will come natural after you skip for a long enough time.. (Thanks Gregsid)
Just focus speed roping to get your heart pumping, dont worry about corssing, boxer skips or whatever.. Although if you can, throw in a few crosses in your sprints, i do.

Definatly , if you concentrate on conditioning and getting ur heart pumping the timing comes naturally. ONce you got the timing down you can do as many fancy triks as you like ( and its fun once you can lol:happy )

Depends what your going for. If your a boxer i would suggest that you skip to warm up but u don't have to do much then just casual skip a couple of rounds stretch etc. But at the end of your workout once you have done everything else do some interval skipping depending on your level of cardio. What i do is 3 rounds of 20 seconds double jumps 10 seconds normal and on the 4th round i go all out the whole round double jumps. Or at the end go for 15 hard minutes of intense skipping no breaks.

I only jump rope as a warm up before training.
3 rounds, 5min each, 1min break, 25 pushups during breaks.

Have you ever thought of turning it into an industry?
