Credit: Daniel Herbertson of MMA Fighting K-1 and Dynamite brands have been sold to a real estate company called Barbizon (??????????Barbizon co.,Ltd). FEG no longer own K-1. Details soon. The DREAM trademark is still owned by FEG. ??????????Barbizon co.,Ltd Twitter Not sure how true this is but it's a rumour doing the rounds at the moment.
What most have already thought. K-1 is dead. If they're owned by a real estate company they must be trying to offload their bad assets and this company has taken what little they can make that's left.
There are many wealthy wanna be's who do invest into area's completely opposite their company's normal portfolio.I have never heard of this company but perhaps the owners see an opportunity. Or,perhaps not.
Good to see it survive a little bit longer but I fear the gig may be up with It's Showtime and even Golden Glory trying to muscle in on the market. K-1 may have been mismanaged but like J-MMA its been fatally undermined by a pretty major generational shift in Japanese society away from sports and towards other forms of entertainment. A shame - would have loved to go to the Tokyo Dome during Pride or Puro's glory days.
Big 'if' but maybe J-MMA can find another star in the Sakuraba mold to give it a boost in the arm. But that's unlikely, hopefully K1 can be revived by some new ideas.
Ishii was supposed be that guy. The Japanese hate him. Plus he's about as a charismatic as a can of paint. Bet he wishes he stuck to Judo.
Oh ****, Im sure we will be getting pics of a certain tight wearing dork in a few moments.... But yeah, shame to be slowly watching J-MMA go down the pan. DREAM, as far has I know, hasnt caught the imagination of a worldwide audience like PRIDE, and all the best young talent seems to be UFC bound for the foreseeable future
