...er, at least it's a Japanese business? :!: (meaning they're more likely to be actual fans of the K-1 product and therefore reverent of it and willing to work toward preserving/improving it than, say, an American company?)

By the metrics that matter, it is.

It obviously has a huge cult following if you look online, it's just unfortunately scattered across many international markets.

Its popularity faded in Japan (and Europe, losing ground to IS!) and it never gained a strong foothold in the US...which is still really weird to me.

How can anyone not like K-1? :?

I basically don't give a **** about FEG now. K-1 was always the real draw for me; Dream was just icing on the cake. (and I hardly follow MMA now)

It might even be time to remove HDNet from my cable package. :conf (assuming Birzaban doesn't try to renew whatever confusing, shitty contracts that FEG had with them)

But they have not captured the imagination of the Japanese, let alone worldwide audience really have they. That's why DREAM is losing money hand over fist, forcing FEG to sell the K1 brand in the hope that the capital can keep DREAM going

TV money pays the bills young man. Of course the hardcore fans still exist, and it stands to reason they would be in the stadium. You are missing the point
