I see that Koki Kameda is fighting in an IBF eliminator on January 31 in Mexico. I'm hoping that this indicates a progressive course towards more Western exposure. I'm anxious to get a better look at a young prospect, and his family's history of inappropriate behavior just makes it even more of a compelling spectacle.
Koki's fight in January is quite a step up from his previous competition. If all goes to according to plan and he wins then a fight with Sakata is inevitably to be next. If Koki wins that then a unification fight with Naito towards the end of the year would be huge in Japan, a great way for Koki to get back some of his family pride. It would be quite an accomplishment to unify and become a 2 weight champion at the age of 22.
