Was once one of the biggest idiots (if not THE biggest idiot) connected to HBO, but he's actually been improving a LOT, and with each new fight that he covers I gain just a bit more respect for him. I think he deserves more credit, to be honest -- less hate.

He'll never top Merchant, of course. But he's not bad either.

I've never had a problem with Kellerman. I'm not such a fan that I care to defend him at all for anything, but I don't feel negatively towards him. Never did.

I actually like Kellerman.. I don't think he's that bad like everyone says on here. Lampley rubs me the wrong way and he's such a biased *****. I was glad when Kellerman corrected him. Lampley is an arrogant ***** and didn't like that one bit hahahaa.

Kellerman is trying to change from his old ESPN2 days. On ESPN2, Max once said that he would ever recognize the WBO title as long as a Klitschko has the title. Sad.

I told Max live on the air that he was a very nice closed minded person, years ago.

There is nothing wrong with the guy, it's just cool to hate on Max Kellerman.

Max created some hard feeling on the old ESPN2 FNF and he was just too biased, but he is a nice person, I like him.

Max Kellerman did a great job. He knows about boxing.

HBO with Kellerman, Steward and Lewis is great!

I've never understood the hatred on kellerman, he started out on public access with his own boxing show, graduated all the way to espn and then hbo and makes his living doing something he loves. he should get his props cause I'm sure a lot of people who are boxing fans would like to make a living like he has managed to do.

HE WILL NEVER TOP MERCHANT? AT LEAST MAX SHOWS UP TO THE FIGHTS SOBER, WHERE AS LARRY DOWNED A FIFTH OF GIN IN THE PARKING LOT RIGHT BEFORE THE OPENING BELL.

he simply is not the journalist that Larry Merchant is and when Merchant isnt on the fight the telecasts seem to lose a lot of their Grandeur. The class and prestige even importance of the moment are not present without Merchant.

An essential part of Merchant's charm and wisdom.

It's that he did all that - unlike ANY commentator you could name - without PAYING DUES. Never worked as a boxing journalist, never was a participant in pro boxing, never did jack **** other than use his rich daddy's connections with Cayton to get plucked from obscurity to replace the great Al Bernstein on ESPN - probably the WORST thing the network has ever done. It's sort of like replacing the Beatles with your buddy's garage band.

Kellerman is - hands down - the WORST boxing commentator I have ever seen in my 30 years of following the sport. That he is on HBO is a tragedy and a disgrace.
