I read a interview in a paper this morning that Kessler (28 yrs old) feels fatigued and only sees himself in a few more fights. He wishes for a rematch against Calzaghe but admits that chances of that are close to none and hopes to fight some big american names. I'm very dissapointed but have seen it comming. He has no one around him to promote or develop him. He's stuck in his career and doesn't want to work his way up again
This is getting ridiculous. A fighter loses 1 fight and is considering retiring! Oh ****, Louis lost to Schemling time to hang them up, uh oh, Ali lost to Frazier, what a bum - retire! Foreman lost to Young, ahh **** he won't achieve anything now! atsch Keep on fightin!
sucks for Calzaghe and Kessler. If Kessler gets the right kind of motivation he can really make a good career. It sucks that he suffered his first defeat and that his promoter/friend is going through these health problems at the same time.
Unlikely, but I've heard many fighters state that they are contemplating leaving 'after a few fights' after a tough battle. Cotto stated he only wanted 4-5 more after Torres, that's not the case.
That's what they all say.."Only a few more fight and then I'm done" " When I'm 30 I'll retire"...etc. Trust me we will see the Dane fight plenty of more times.
This is the kind of stuff they all say when they lose their first bout. He will regroup and he'll be back.
Kessler is in a hard spot. His promoter his whole career is dying, and he lost his dream fight. He may not have the motivation for the sport anymore and doesn't want to fight on. Shame really. He needs to sign w/ an american promoter ASAP!
Or better yet, beat Hopkins, making the rematch into a megafight and attractive enough for Joe to take. :good

what the? he still has a good 5 years left in him, thats a lot of time for redemption and legacy enhancement.
Having Lacy what he IS, and Kessler possibly retiring (and not proving anything further) - in short, Calzaghe is ****ED! Legacy wise, at least.
