Thank **** common sense seems to be prevailing. Hopefully this means some other fights at 140 first or a return to 135 for Dinamita. Also, I think that this would be best for Khan as well. Hopefully now he'll fight a genuine LWW in his next fight.

    Beristain had this to say:

"Khan is very strong and it's not a good fight right now because he's not fully recovered from the Mayweather fight, which was just brutal. "I think it's better to get another opponent. He should not be exploited again. Juan Manuel deserves to retire like a true champion and not as someone's stepping stone."

If Beristain thinks that then he should advise his fighter to retire now

got a feeling this fight was never going to happen. it makes khan look good that he was prepared to fight Marquez.

now he can fight Mallignaggi or Nate Campbell.

Hopefully he will not get put in with a bum like Maidana. Khan needs to be tested at this stage of his career.

Maidana is the easiest fight for Khan at 140. I often question if his new band of 'fans' have actually seen him fight.

Not really. This is just Beristain's opinion on why JMM shouldn't take the fight at this point in time. The fight has also not been signed after being negotiated for weeks now. Maybe it was never as serious a proposition as everyone assumed? Equally, the delay could just be a hiccup in negotiations.

IMO, GBP should make JMM-Katsidis next and then decide what to do. JMM is far from finished and he'll prove it yet again, IMO.

Still think the fight will go ahead

Won't a Katsidis-JMM fight be more damaging for Marquez?

JMM will make sure this happens now, perhaps it was reverse psychology to make sure Amir takes it. lol

I dont think the fight with PBF took much out of JMM, (the Juan Diaz fight was tougher on him imo)

Although extremely exciting to watch, Katsidis is wide-open and, IMO, would be a good comeback fight for JMM. Kats also doesn't possess huge amounts of power and relies on accumulation and relentlessness to wear his opponents down.

When I think about a possible Khan-JMM fight, I see a really **** mix of styles. Khan is a huge LWW and JMM's optimum weight is 135, IMO. I'd fully expect Khan to stay on the outside for the distance using his superior reach, height and speed to notch-up rounds on the end of his jab whilst hardly engaging; basically just a carbon copy of the Kotelnik fight. On the other hand, JMM would have to abandon his effective counter-punching to press the fight and this would play into Khan's hands.

Head to head JMM is unquestionably the better fighter. That said, stylistically, I think a fight with Khan wouldn't be the next best move for JMM. If JMM wants to campaign at 140, I say why not take on Bradley or the winner of Urango-Alexander?

Beristain probably thinks Marquez has a better chance against Katsidis and Roach does know Marquez inside out aswell.

Valero JMM would be an awesome fight. As much of an animal Valero is, I think JMM would school him over 12 rounds.
