Nobody has been able to force Ricky into fighting a different fight than what he is used to - when the fight has been different it is Hatton who has initiated the change, such as in the Tackie fight and more recently against Urango. If anyone really thinks that Khan has the tools currently to beat Hatton they are very much mistaken. I would put every penny I have on it.
I dont think he has the tools to keep Hatton off him currently, i just think he has a good toolset for this stage, but would lose to the division top boys mention
He got straight back up, but his legs weren't there for another, what...15/20 seconds? Plus it was an arm punch! No potentially elite fighter should be getting knocked down these types of punches.
:good spot on gomez caught him with a couple of decent punches and without being disrespectful to gomez if that was cassamayor, campbell or baby bull it would have been over. He needs to definately sort out his defense oh and work on the inside.
nonsense. hatton is michael gomez with 6 arms. he'd be running thru khan and u know it. khan is a weight division below anyway.
I realy expected alot from Khan but after watching the Gomez fight now put him in with any European/World class fighter like Yuri Romanov/Nate Campbell/Juan Dian etc i think hed be truly wrecked
To me, the definition of a flash knockdown is the one suffered by Naz in the Kevin Kelley fight, or perhaps Hatton against Magee (less so) - the one suffered by Khan was a cuffing punch that wasn't thrown from a solid base, therefore power could not have been maximised. If a guy wants to go to the top level and fight all comers, he needs to be able to take those kinds of bombs much better, as Jack said
Come off it! Watch the knockdown again. Gomez was stood very straight and hlf in a clinch. He ended up throwing pretty much an arm punch. There is absolutely no way that shot would have hurt any elite fighter. I don't think you've watched any top level boxing. I used to think you were biased beyond reason, but I don't even think it's that. How can anyone who has seen the wars Pacquiao has with Morales or Marquez and say he would have gone done? Watch Diaz vs. Freitas and see some of those power shots bounce off Juan Diaz' head. And Fretias was a real KO artist, much moreso than Gomez was. And Hatton would KO Khan in 2 or 3.
If thats the case so be it.It'll improve his defence. Khans only 21 why rush, the boy needs to be nurtured and coaxed into the fighting machine that'll ultimately become world champ.
well from what i saw it was a decent shot, i know khan does not have a great chin, mark my words in 2 or 3 years time khan will be up with the best at lightweight, just needs to sort out his defence and i have seen top level boxing and most ofthe fights between the likes of MAB EM,JMM and pacman, i didnt see them at the time as was not into world boxing, just british really, but i have watched reruns, it was just my opinion that khan is treated a little unfairly to be honest, big shots or not JMM was down 3 times in the first round in JMM-pac 1? all of the best suffer knockdowns at lightweight, there are many knockdowns in that division. but hey maybe i am wrong but at the time i did not think it was a bad shot, khan didnt see it coming and it caught him off blance, i think if pac,JMM etc where in the same position khan got caught in then the outcome would have been the same
not saying that pac and JMM would of been in that position they would have probably knocked out gomez in under 2 rounds
