You have to split that total revenue withg primetime so it's £375,000 for Khan. Assuming they don't have to pay Mccloskey any of that, it leaves him up 125k over what he was supposed to be getting if he'd gone on to sky sports 3. So he will be better off but is 125 grand worth pissing off sky? We'll have to see if they pick up his fights from now on of if they wash their hands of him.
Yeah, I said he should have stuck with Sky but I was curious what new type of taxation was going to leave "little left", not suggesting the £250,000 (or whatever) left over for Khan was worth leaving Sky for.
Stupid. Dumb move. Khan making a little extra seems pointless to me. 50,000 buys is more than I thought they would get and if anything the khan fall out with sky got them some free promotion. However its still not great is it.
He won't see much of it. If it's earnings for khan he'll lose near 50% in personal tax. After his fees to golden boy and ant other expenses, it was hardly worth leaving sky. It'd incredibly short-sighted.
Virgin media numbers are yet to come in,I think he's onto a nice little earner. Now it all depends on the kind of deal GoldenBoy can make with Primetime to determine whether it was all worth it.
If the figures are anything like that he'll have a re-match with McCloskey within 6 -12 months... No point Primetime denying that thre wasn't an important Irsih factor (those in Irlenad and over here) and that was the main interest.
I agree with DFTaylor for the sake of a few grand overall the Khans have mad a right hash of things and messed up an important relationship with the British public and the main boxing broadcaster in this country. Khan is obviously going onto bigger better things he will earn million so basically 100k is nothing in the long term but Khans team have made sure that they will do whatever at whatever cost to squeeze every penny they can If this was a homecoming fight "for the fans" why put it on an obscure ppv channel its just reveals it for what it is for the Khans a money making exercise and one that was performed poorly anyway
By the way, if, as claimed on another thread, Primetime don't reveal PPV sale figures, where has this total come from?
They felt they'd make more money over here with the extra live gate. it was all pretty cynical but very amateur. it was a rotten fight from an increasingly rotten fighter.

I think the Daily Mail said 50 had been sold by the Monday of fight week...so, if Primetime sold 50,000, which seems to be the figure on here, that means that 49,050 bought during a fight week with not a lot of coverage...the venue was nearly sold out (a few hundred under capacity) and it was not papered...(10,000 more than watched Morales and Maidana the week before!)...that is good business, trust me. However, I think the pay-per-view was better. McCloskey was a major factor, let's not forget. I bet Amir is not one penny out of pocket and this clearly shows SKY in no uncertain terms that they are NOT the only show in town...Setanta, let's remember, sent SKY scampering away to buy more fat ties for their presentation team. SKY helped save boxing in many ways ... kept it active, helped pay people ... but as Setanta showed they can so easily be beaten. Adios.
