Slightly off subject, but didn't Ricky Hatton wear Everlast gloves in the Castillo fight but have the Lonsdale logo over the top? I presume he was on contract to Lonsdale at that point.
The bottom line is Khan is contracted with Reebok so IDEALLY Reebok would want him to wear them gloves however in the Maidana fight instead of 8oz gloves he got one glove at 9.5oz and one at 10oz therefore could not wear them. Referring to what Ariza said in his video about Team Khan regarding to the solution which they tried to rub off the Everlast logo then Ariza is as thick as a plank of wood. Let me explain, Khan is under CONTRACT which means he has to wear Reebok gloves therefore when there was an issue with the glove they had to check with Reebok as they are legally bound by contract to see if Reebok can be put on the gloves by removing the everlast logo with some solution as Reebok can take them to court for breach of contract. However after inspection it was decided that the solution was classed as tampering therefore Reebok were ok for Khan to wear any other glove as long as he was happy for the big fight. It doesn't mean that Team Khan want to please Reebok they have to look at the legal side,they were just as frustrated at the time and were looking at putting on different gloves. I'm assuiming that now Khan is reaching major fights in his career then Reebok are a bit more lenient towards the gloves as they understand that if Khan is not comfortable with it then it is also their duty to make sure Khan is kept happy as he makes them money. So the answer is yes he is contracted to wearing them but it is not concrete as far as the gloves go due to Reeboks inexperience in making gloves as far as the rest of the kit is concerned then no leniency is available.
You can bet your house Reebok wont make the mistake of a wrong weight gloves again, I think before they did not even make 8oz fight gloves, they will now I am sure.
