freddie roach knows his job, but i think he's been conned, they have took the madaina fight, on the grounds of madainas lasst performance, madaina has got knowhere since his victory over ortiz, so what better plan than to perform badly against a boxer who.s considered past it, yet know you will do enough to get a decision, a kind of setup job to draw khans team into the fight, as before this they were ignoring madaina, he was to dangerous for his own good i feel an upset in the air.:think:good

Do you seriously think they took this fight on the basis of the Corley fight?

Did you know that Roach and Khan were ringside at the Maidana Vs Ortiz fight?

    That was Maidana's best performance.

Really, I don't know why people think Team Khan are underestimating Maidana.

    They know what to expect.

Did you see that fight with Chop Chop? Those last few rounds he was gulping like a fish out of water.
Brando, DeNiro and now Maidana. He should call himself "The Method Man" now.

Yeah Roach and those at Golden Boy are incredibly naive and didn't take into account any of Maidanas other fights.:thumbsup

I think youre dead right, Khan, Goldenboy and Roach wanted no part of Maidana (even going to the extent of paying him step aside money...and Roach had said he'd rather Khan vacate than let him fight Maidana) until Maidana looked weak and beatable against Corley. I am counting on Maidana KO'ing Khan fairly handily, beating him within 7 or 8 rounds.

Seriously, these are the opinions of boxing fans? have I woke up and stumbled onto a parallel forum where people know **** all:huh

They've took the maidana fight on the basis that it's that or vacate. And at this stage of Khan's career where he's still building in the states and rebuilding over here vacating just wasn't a viable option (despite what the reverend Roach says). Especially given that the division is currently stacked and most fights carry some risk for him.

He'll beat Maidana without too much trouble anyway.

Some of the news outlets need to do a story or feature on Maidana's training camp. He's training like an absolute machine. 7 weeks out. He's going to be very sharp come fight night

They didn't want him because they wanted a bigger name specifically Marquez. As that fell through twice, and there was no-one else, and the fact he would of been stripped of his belt, TK was effectively forced into taking the fight.

  13. yeh nobody get it twisted this fight is happening becasue the WBA said it has to.....no other reason.

Yeah, Team Khan took this only because they saw the Corley fight....

...Despite the fact that both Roach and Khan were scouting the Maidana/Ortiz fight before Maidana even became his mandatory. As well as Khan, immediately after Malignaggi, stating he wants Maidana next (this was months before Corley).

It’s funny, because the whole world’s been demanding for him to take on Maidana, and when he finally does, we then hear “Oh **** Khan. He’s only taking it because he’s being forced into it. *****!” or “Why should he get to face Maidana? Why doesn’t he fight Alexander or Bradley?”

In between the period where ‘Khan would get his glass-jaw shattered by Maidana’ to ‘Maidana’s tailor made for Khan’, just what the heck has changed? With all the unfair criticism thrown his way, I really wish he goes on to succeed in this division, just to see what else his detractors will come up with.

Ermmm not sure where you have dreamt up some of that. After the Mallignaggi fight they wanted Marquez. Maidana was set to face Bradley. Marquez was set to face Diaz. So they were looking at Katsidis or Casamayor for Khan on the same date, and then the winners face each other. Freddie didn't like it due to the tight time constraints and no deal could be worked out in time, so Khan ultimately never fought and it was decided they would then make an offer to Marquez if he beat Diaz... which he did. By now it's august.. not 'immediately after the malignaggi fight', they approached Marquez with an offer.. over the course of the following weeks he and his team decided against moving up and opted to fight Katsidis... TK then began looking for other opponents, of which one was Maidana..negotiations collapsed at Maidana's financial demands.. so they started to look at who else could fight on the date... Maidana felt they were going to avoid him..so he then wrote his letter to the WBA... WBA then ordered the fight and issued purse bids date..then GBP and TK gave in.. and there we have it.
