    Peter lashes out!

The normally reserved Samuel Peter, who has been in Cancun for a week, wasted little time in disparaging just-arrived WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev at a press conference today at the Royal Hotel promoting the first world heavyweight championship in Mexico at Plaza de Toros (HBO 9:30 ET/6:30 p.m. PT). Maskaev and Peter had been scheduled to meet on Oct. 6 at Madison Square Garden, but Maskaev pulled out on Sept. 21 due to a back injury. That postponement did not sit well with Peter, whom the WBC made its interim heavyweight champion on Sept. 24. When Peter was asked to speak, he stepped to the podium and glared at Maskaev. "I'm coming to fight on Saturday night and I promise I'm going to beat you," Peter said. "I'm going to punish you and beat you up. I've been fighting for seven years and I've never ducked anyone. I hope you're planning on coming to fight on Saturday. You can run no more."

I agree with the lean call on Peter - I've never seen him look that thin - He said he had a brutally good camp...should be interesting.

I know you like Peter by KO, but if it doesn't happen early, can't you see SP getting frustrated & OM starting to land RH's?

I just don't see Maskaev winning. I mean, am I one of the only few who saw him TEN YEARS AGO? I know I'm not the only one who say Maskaev vs. Whitaker and Sanders.

It's possible. If he does get frusturated and neglects punch output and his jab, Maskaev can outwork him and outmanuver him - maybe stopping him or winning a decision.

The cards are stacked against Maskaev.

Why did Don King order the largest boxing ring allowed in Mexico for Peter? Why does Peter have all the judges and referee? Lucky for Peter that Don Kings judges gave him the fight vs. McCline.

WHy does this supposedly help a stationary fighter like Peter? If Don King wants everythign to favor Peter, wouldn't he order the SMALLEST? WHere do you even get the idea he Got the largest? Make **** up much? :patsch

WHo's the ref and the judges? You must know who they are.

Don probably got a shot at some Vida Guerra babe nearby.

Anyways I'm happy that Sam came out and addressed Maskaev this way. He set the tone already. Maskaev can no longer run. And he's gonna get knocked out. Sammy isn't gonna be a happy man when he enters that ring, recalling how long ago this fight should have happened and what it cost him financially. He's gonna hit Maskaev so hard Rappaport is gonna feel it the next day. I can't wait.

Your right, L_U...if your guy is a power punching chump, you want to give him the SMALLEST amount of room to corner his man.
